Magic: The Gathering is boldly going into its next Universes Beyond set. Star Trek previews are rolling out now, and the set is close. Here's the timeline, the products and a heads up on delays.
Key dates
- Commander deck previews: October 26–29, one deck per day
- Prerelease: November 6–12, 2026
- MTG Arena release: November 10, 2026
- Tabletop release: November 13, 2026
The four Commander decks
- Federation Fleet (Jeskai), led by Picard
- Landing Party (Bant), led by Spock
- Klingon Fury (Mardu), led by Worf
- We Are the Borg (Esper), led by the Borg Queen
Boosters and the signed Headliner cards
Play Boosters have 14 cards with 30 packs per box. Collector Boosters have 15 cards with 12 packs per box, and they carry the big chase: seven signed Headliner cards, each signed by a Star Trek actor, with fewer than 250 copies of each.
Card treatments to watch for:
- Stardates: 30 borderless reprints
- LCARS-frame shock lands, styled after the Starfleet computer interface
- Klingon script cards, found only in Collector Boosters
The full lineup includes Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Commander decks, Collector's Edition Commander decks, Bundles, Beam Me Up Bundles, Draft Night, Scene Boxes and Welcome Decks.
What's delayed
Wizards announced on October 16 that some Star Trek products will ship late in certain regions:
- North America: Star Trek Commander decks may arrive after the November 13 release. Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs are still on track for the November 6 prerelease.
- Europe, Middle East and Africa: Collector Boosters, Collector's Edition Commander decks, Draft Night, Scene Boxes and Beam Me Up Bundles may be late.
- Asia-Pacific: Collector Boosters, Bundles and some other products may be late.
Separately, the Reality Fracture Secret Lair Bundle, originally due October 23, has been delayed worldwide because of production and shipping issues. Wizards says it may arrive shortly after October 23 but hasn't given a firm date. ICv2 also reports that the Star Trek Beginner Box was canceled back in September.
Why it matters
If you preordered Commander decks, plan on them possibly landing after launch day. And if you're chasing a signed Headliner, Collector Boosters are the only place to find them.
